J.B. Hazard served as Register of the St. Stephen's Land Office from 1826 May 4 to 1835 Aug. 23. This series consists of copies of letters sent by Register Hazard to the U.S. General Land Office in Washington, D.C., to various other district land office officials, and to purchasers of land in his land district, 1826 Sept. - Dec. Topics discussed include private land claims, surveys, laws regarding land sales and Hazard's bond of office. These records reveal the inner workings of the office of Register at St. Stephen's.

Under regulations approved on March 20, 1915, tracts set aside as villa sites under the provisions of an act of April 12, 1910, within the former Flathead Indian Reservation, Montana, were offered for sale at public auction, beginning at Polson, Montana, on July 26, 1915.
